The Island Safari Centre on Koh Samui is training six-year old Malie, and nine-year old Toktak to use their trunks to master basketball skills, in an effort to improve their health and vitality.

Or they will train the elephant to play golf, i believe  they will buy discount golf clubs at that day,do you agree?

Organisers at the centre, which cares for the animals, say that they undergo rigorous training in order to learn the basics of the game.

“It takes two or three months of intensive training to teach them basics, but fortunately their standards are improving with each passing day”, said organiser Ning.

The keepers begin by teaching the elephants basic ball control skills, and how to hold the ball in their trunk. The animals are then taught to stand on their hind legs, walk with the ball and finally shoot it through the hoop.

Visitors to the centre described the game as “unbelievable”, with one onlooker saying, “I had never seen an elephant playing basketball.”

It is the first time for me to see it. I also can train my dog to play golf with taylormade .

It is said that moving house is one of the most stressful events in our lifetime and with statistics stating that 3,300,000 people move house every year in the UK, there is no doubt that this means a great number of household pets are caught up in the moving process too.

It is very important to ensure that your pets are being cared for and comforted throughout the whole process and mistakes are not made such as leaving them in their carry cases for too long or forgetting to provide them with food and water when distracted by other things.

If you happen to have a large amount of pets of different species with no family members or friends to transport them for you, it may be a good idea to mention this to your chosen removal company when organising the day and see if they could assist with the transportation of your pets too. However this may also come with an extra fee.

One of the most difficult pets to transport to your new home surprisingly are fish, in particular, tropical or marine species and those that require a large aquarium tank. Many species of fish are very sensitive to sudden changes in their environment and therefore need to be settled as much as possible throughout the move.

Although it is promising to transport the tank with its plant life, features and accessories intact, It is however impossible to transport the tank with the water and fish still in place, not just due to the weight of the item when everything is inside, but also for the safety of your fish and yourself when either transporting, carrying the tank or even putting the tank into place in your new home.

It is highly recommended to remove the fish and relocate them into a bucket or container that is sealed and filled with the water from their tank and possibly some friendly chemicals such as stress-coat etc. If you feel they would benefit from having the plants from the tank in with them too then this is fine also.

The fish will be much happier and less stressed than they would in a sloshing tank and can be returned into their known surroundings with no problems once at the new home.

Cats, dogs, hamsters and birds can also benefit from being placed into a safe container or carry box and positioned back into their familiar surroundings after you have arrived.

Ferrets are playful, loving and adventurous creatures, but before you grab the first one that you see, there are some things to look out for, before you even buy a ferret.

All of the above traits are great to have in a ferret, but you should give him a good look over before you purchase.  If this is your first time purchasing a ferret, below are some pointers that you should keep in mind.  

1.  Your new ferrets fur should be shiny, and soft to the touch.  He should have a full covering of fur, with no patches of fur missing.

2.  He should have clear and bright eyes, with no discharge from the eyes, the ears and the nose.

3.  The undercoat of the ferret should be clean and healthy looking.

4.  Look for signs that the ferret might be experiencing bloating or diarrhea.  This could mean that he might be infected with parasites, or that he might have an illness.

5.  Try observing the ferret for a few minutes, just to see how active he is.  Ferrets are usually bounding around with energy, so If he appears to be a little bit sluggish, then he might have a problem.

You will have to consider the age of the ferret that you want to buy, and whether or not he will fit into into your lifestyle.  A younger, or a baby ferret (kit) will demand a lot more care and attention, whereas a more mature ferret will not require the same level of attention.

Do you want a male or a female ferret?  I suppose that will come down to your own personal
choice.  Whatever sex you do eventually decide to buy though, you will definatly want to get them fixed.

And how many ferrets do you want?  Most people can cope quite happily with just one ferret, but there are others who will decide on two or more.  That will require a lot more dedication and hard work.

Think very carefully before you buy your first ferret, and try to follow the basic guidelines set out above.  That way the ferret that you do buy should be fit and healthy from the onset, then it will be up to you to keep him that way.
